Bray Lions Club was given the honour of leading the local St. Patrick's Day Parade after one of its members Karl O Broin was chosen as Grand Marshal.
Karl, a primary school teacher, was also named 'Bray Person of the Year' by Bray Chamber in recognition of his work for 'Michael's Hope for Independence', which he led on behalf of Bray Lions Club.
The project was launched to raise funds for local boy Michael Tiron, who has cerebral palsy and had been confined to a wheelchair from the age of three. The funds enabled Michael to travel to the USA for a life-changing operation which made it possible for him to fulfil his dream of walking for the first time.
Bray Lions were joined by Michael's schoolmates and parents on the top deck of the bus and were cheered by more than 20,000 spectators. The Club also availed of the opportunity to promote the 30 service projects which they undertake annually.

Bray Lions Club also organised and supported the Darkness Into Light 5km Walk/Run.
Bray Lions members and supporters, lead by Danny Bohan, marched in the parade to raise awareness and promote the event which raises funds for Pieta House (Self-Harm / Suicide Crisis Centre).
