In 2006, Bray Lions Club responded to the Books for Liberia appeal which saw books donated by Bray people being shipped to the country ravaged by civil war, which were distributed by Irish peace keeping forces there. It was Irish Army chaplain Fr. Brendan Madden, a former priest of Queen of Peace, who contacted the Lions Club about getting involved in the book drive. The generosity of the people of Bray filled one container, mostly with schoolbooks and encyclopedias for schools. The total value of books donated by Irish people was estimated to be worth a whopping Euro 40 million.
The PAWS Project team from St. Cronan's School were heavily involved in keeping this appeal on track;
sorting through all of the books and loading the truck container.
