ASHLEIGH CARTON, a 17 year old student at Loreto College, has been chosen as Bray Lions Club 'Young Ambassador 2010' and will represent the Club in the Regional Finals of the international competition.
Ashleigh, from Wolfe Tone Square, Bray, was chosen from a group of teenage candidates at selection interviews held in Bray this week.
A Leader at Celtic Youth Club, Ashleigh has worked as a volunteer at Seomra Youth Centre and at the Five Loaves Centre for the Homeless. She is a member of the Loreto Student's Council and has appeared in the school's musicals. A keen sports enthusiast, she is a qualified Level One GAA coach and plays rugby for Greystones RFC.
"Ashleigh emerged the winner from a panel of highly motivated young people, all of whom are playing a significant role in their communities", said Frank Corr, president of Bray Lions Club.
"The Lions Young Ambassador Programme recognises the contribution which young people make to their communities and awards those who have made an outstanding voluntary effort. We wish Ashleigh every success as she progresses to higher levels in the competition."
