Bray Lions Club Cara Mentoring Project
Bray Lions Club has been in existence for over 25 years and during this time has undertaken a vast range of projects designed to address the needs of our community at a particular point in time.
Today we have identified that one of the greatest needs in our community is how to address the catastrophic levels of unemployment that have such a demoralizing effect on our people. Within our Lions Club we have many members who have significant experience in business and the professions. We have agreed that we should put this expertise at the disposal of our local community and to do this we have decided to offer a mentoring service to people starting their own business and to those who need help in developing existing businesses.
The title of this programme is 'Bray Lions Club Cara Mentoring Project'. The word CARA, the Irish for friend, is central to our approach to helping/befriending those striving to create employment and who might need our help.
We are offering this on a free of charge basis.
We have 12 volunteers who are prepared to make themselves available as mentors. We have worked closely with the Wicklow County Enterprise Board anb Bray partnership in identifying needs and in discussing how this service might best be made available. Furthermore through the offices of the Wicklow County Enterprise Board we have acquired training for our mentors.
