Sea Swim 2014

This Year's Swim

On the advice of safety specialists, Bray Lions Club had no option but to postpone the New Year's Day Swim due to extreme weather conditions, high surf and strong waves at high tide. The organisers considered that it was not safe for swimmers, Life Guards, Order of Malta and the public, to proceed. After taking into account tides and other administrative issues, the Swim is now scheduled for Sunday 9th February, 2014 at 12 Noon.

Set up 30 years ago for the dual purposes of having some festive fun and raising funds for local charities, this yearly event has to date realised Euro 294,484 (year 2013 Euro 19,600) for a long list of worthy local causes. .

Bray Lions Club request readers to help us spread the word, verbally, by Facebook and Twitter.

With many of the swimmers turning out in fancy dress, this is always a very enjoyable and colourful event. Many people and charities are experiencing financial hardship at present and for this reason we have chosen as our charities for 2014:

Bray Cardiac First Responders Group
Lincara Daycare Centre, Boghall Road
Hi-Rez Youth Club, Holy Redeemer
W.H. Five Loaves Homeless Charity, Bray
Bray Lions' Senior Citizens' Holiday.

Remember no admin is incurred, the entire fundraising proceeds will go directly to these local charities.
